Overview
This subject will provide students with a good understanding of how Internet technologies can be transformed and integrated into businesses including challenges, opportunities, and risks. This subject focuses on management, governance, and innovation aspects of e-business, and how technology and businesses inter-play to produce innovative business models, processes, products, and services in various contexts. It covers a broad spectrum of Internet technologies and digital business transformation from operational and strategic perspectives. Students will also explore more electronic business problems such as security, privacy, intellectual property rights, legal liabilities and global issues. After completion of this subject, students are expected to have an appropriate level of knowledge, skills, and concept of digital operations and transformation in the digital economy.

Subject Learning Summary
The subject introduces e-Business concepts, models and strategies within a global digital environment. It examines internet, mobile and cloud infrastructure, digital marketing, e-commerce presence, online retail services, security and payment systems. Students also explore legal and ethical issues, B2B e-commerce and supply-chain management, while developing an e-business plan and evaluating emerging industry trends.
Learning Outcomes
- Analyse current and future trends of e-business models and technologies.
- Critically evaluate e-business opportunities and challenges in various business and technology platforms.
- Analyse how organisations and individuals can use internet and mobile technologies, cloud and e-business for competitive advantage, including in a global environment.
- Critically analyse the strengths and limitations of data analytics technologies such as statistics and machine learning
- Develop an e-business initiative and business plan.
Assessment
AIIHE uses a variety of assessment tools to guide and assess each student’s achievement of their learning outcomes. In this subject there will be in–class activities intended to support you to engage in and reflect on your learning journey and understanding of the subject. You will also undertake assessment tasks related to your skills development, your effective engagement in group work and delivery of collaborative outcomes, including a written report and an oral presentation.
Summary of Assessment
- Students must attempt all assessment tasks, and at least a mark of 50% in total, to pass this subject.
- Assessment in this subject is consistent with and informed by the AIIHE Assessment Policy and Procedure.
