Overview

Information Systems Management (INF204) provides an opportunity for students to assess the importance of IS Management to a business enterprise in terms of productivity, profitability and competitive advantage. The subject emphasises deployment of strategies for innovative IS applications and system acquisitions to support a competitive advantage such as customer relationship management and supply chain management. The critical role data, information and business intelligence plays in organizational success will be examined and several cyber security strategies will be outlined to counteract emerging threats. Risk and service management will be explored

Subject Learning Summary

The subject examines the strategic management of information systems and their role in digital transformation, organisational strategy and competitive advantage. It covers data and knowledge management, business intelligence, data science and analytics, information security, risk management and IT service management. Students also explore CRM, supply chain management, information-system acquisition and system deployment.

Justify the critical role data, information and business intelligence plays in organizational success
Critically analyse the issues involved in implementing risk management and service management
Describe how firms can extend IS to customers via customer relationship management (CRM) and to suppliers via supply chain management (SCM).

Assessment

AIIHE uses a variety of assessment tools to guide and assess each student’s achievement of their learning outcomes. In this subject there will be in–class activities intended to support you to engage in and reflect on your learning journey and understanding of the subject. You will also undertake assessment tasks related to your skills development, your effective engagement in group work and delivery of collaborative outcomes, including a written report and an oral presentation.
