Subject Description
In the MIT9300 Capstone Project, students apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout their Master of Information Technology degree to develop a secure software solution addressing a complex, real-world problem for an industry client ensuring compliance with the ethical standards. Working in teams of 3 to 5, students follow a comprehensive project lifecycle, including project management, requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, and implementation. Regular progress reports, detailed documentation, client presentations, and a final evaluation of the software solution are integral components of this unit.

Assessment
AIIHE uses a variety of assessment tools to guide and assess each student’s achievement of the subject learning outcomes. In this subject, students undertake group charter and team plan students are required to design, formulate, and structure a comprehensive project plan that defines and articulates the project’s scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, methodologies, resources, and roles within the team, project progress students will analyse, monitor, and evaluate the progress of their project by presenting a structured progress report, and final project report this assessment requires students to synthesise, present, and critically evaluate their completed work through a detailed report, presentation, and individual reflection. These tasks assess the knowledge, applied skills, critical analysis, communication and collaborative capabilities relevant to the subject.
Summary of Assessment
- Students must attempt all assessment tasks, and achieve an overall mark of at least 50%, to pass this subject.
- Assessment in this subject is consistent with and informed by the AIIHE Assessment Policy and Procedure.
| Assessment Type | Due Date | Weighting |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment 1: Group Charter and Team Plan | Week 4 | 20% |
| Assessment 2: Project Progress | Week 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 | 10% |
